Role
Senior Health Nurse within the asylum refugee health team, responsible for leading assessment and treatment of patients, contributing to service development, and supporting other team members.
Location and Working Pattern
* Location: 44 South Portland Street, Glasgow, G5 9JJ
* Contract type: Permanent
* Hours: Full‑time (36 hours per week)
* Shift pattern: Monday‑Thursday 0900‑1700, Friday 0900‑1530
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care in partnership with patients, families and carers, respecting cultural background, lifestyle, race, gender and other factors.
* Familiarise with and ensure implementation of local, regional and national policies, procedures and guidelines of the team.
* Understand and manage the clinical budget to support service aims and objectives.
* Provide clinical leadership, represent nursing values and act as a role model for the team.
* Day‑to‑day management of the nursing team, delegating work appropriately to staff within their scope of practice.
* Ensure practice aligns with the legal and ethical framework of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and national legislation.
* Maintain accurate clinical records and care plans in line with NMC standards and data protection regulations.
* Mentor and support pre‑ and post‑registration nursing students and other multi‑disciplinary personnel.
* Audit clinical placement quality in partnership with higher education institutions and implement required changes.
Qualifications
Essential:
* First Level Registration (NRN/AN) with post‑registration experience working with vulnerable patients with complex needs.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* IT skills – word processing, email and internet.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to meet challenging deadlines and work independently.
* Leadership and management skills.
* Problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Previous experience in a primary care or community setting.
Desirable:
* Full driver’s licence.
