Senior Scientist (Post Doc) at the Core Facility Animal Care UBB
Join us as a senior scientist and head the Core Facility Animal Care (AC) at the University of Vienna Biology Building (UBB). The AC focuses on research on animal behavior and cognition, connecting experts from life sciences.
Start Date: 15 December 2025. Working hours: 20 hours per week (part‑time). Contract duration until 30 September 2030.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate staff and manage the AC budget.
* Maintain the facility and ensure compliance with animal welfare guidelines.
* Coordinate animal welfare approvals and ethical permissions.
* Provide internal and external communication; guide dissemination and PR activities.
* Support ongoing research projects and participate in teaching and administration.
Qualifications
* PhD in Biology or related field.
* Experience conducting research projects.
* Experience supervising students, staff, and trainees.
* Willingness to lead the AC team.
* Documented publication record in peer‑reviewed journals.
* Excellent command of written and verbal English and German.
Additional Qualifications
* Organizational and communication skills.
* Experience acquiring third‑party funding.
* Experience in university teaching and co‑supervision of students.
* Hands‑on mentality.
