Overview
The University of Vienna seeks to appoint a Tenure-Track Professorship in Natural Product Research at the Faculty of Life Sciences. The position focuses on identification and chemical-functional characterization of molecules from natural sources as part of drug discovery, with an emphasis on advancing natural product-based research and drug discovery using cutting-edge technologies, including (big) data science. The use or development of AI tools is highly desirable. Outstanding candidates in related fields will also be considered. This appointment aligns with the University’s strategic priorities: Global health: physical, mental and social dimensions of health; Systems of life – foundations of life; and Digital and data-driven transformations of science and society.
Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Vienna contribute to three key research areas: Biomolecules for a Healthy Lifespan, Computational Life Sciences, and Innovation in Drug Research. The tenure-track professorship will be located at the intersection of these areas and will contribute bioinformatic expertise. It is embedded in the PI panel of the Vienna Doctoral School PhaNuSpo, including pharmaceutical, nutritional and sport sciences.

Your academic profile
* Doctoral degree/PhD
* Two years of international research experience during or after doctoral studies
* Outstanding research achievements, excellent publication and funding record, international reputation
* Gender and diversity competence
* Experience in designing and participating in research projects, ability to lead research groups and acquire third-party funding
* Enthusiasm for excellent teaching and supervision at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral level
We expect the successful candidate to acquire, within three years, proficiency in German sufficient for teaching in bachelor’s programmes and for participation in university committees.
