About the role
We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead our afternoon shift and take responsibility for delivering safe, disciplined and efficient production across fabrication, CNC and pressing.
This is a key leadership role in a high-mix SME environment, reporting to the General Manager and working closely with supervisors and tradespeople.
You will be accountable for planning and coordinating the afternoon shift, supporting staff, maintaining flow, resolving issues, and ensuring work is delivered to the correct standards.
Requirements
This role would suit either:
a tradesperson (boilermaker, fitter/machinist, fabricator) who has progressed to leading hand, supervision and production management; or an engineer with practical experience in fabrication and machining.
Key requirements:
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to gain buy-in from a diverse team
* Experience in metal fabrication, machining or heavy industrial jobbing
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and specifications
* Understanding of sequencing, scheduling priorities and workflow planning
* Familiarity with production ERP systems (GlobalShop or similar)
* Comfortable working to documented processes, quality standards and traceability requirements
* Ability to dive into detail when needed while still seeing the broader workflow
* Confident communication with tradespeople and management
* Prepared to take responsibility for outcomes and drive practical solutions
* Capability to identify bottlenecks and adjust plans to maintain flow
