We are currently looking to connect with a senior Austrian-qualified lawyer for a confidential interim legal leadership opportunity in western Austria.
This assignment will support a complex private equity-backed transaction involving the establishment of a new standalone business in an asset-heavy, operational and regulated environment. The successful consultant will act as the senior legal lead on the ground, working closely with key stakeholders and external advisers to support the business through a critical transitional period.
The role is likely to involve:
Leading the legal workstream for a complex business separation and NewCo set-up
Supporting the review, transition and implementation of key commercial and operational agreements
Advising on Austrian corporate, commercial and employment law matters relevant to the transition
Coordinating external counsel and specialist legal support
Helping shape the legal framework, governance structure and operating model for the business
Acting as a trusted legal adviser to senior stakeholders in a lean, fast-moving environment
We are particularly interested in speaking with lawyers who have:
Senior in-house experience, ideally as Head of Legal, General Counsel or senior legal counsel
Experience with carve-outs, separations, post-acquisition environments or complex operational M&A situations
Strong contract, corporate, commercial, and employment law understanding
Experience in infrastructure, industrials, manufacturing, utilities, real assets or other regulated environments
The ability to operate autonomously and pragmatically with strong stakeholder management skills
Strong German and English language skills
Availability to spend significant time on site in western Austria
This is expected to be an interim engagement of approximately six months at a minimum, with the potential for extension. Full-time availability is preferred, though there may be some flexibility depending on experience and fit.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior lawyer to play a central role in a strategically important transition, helping shape the legal function of a newly standalone business from an early stage.
