As the Credit Risk Manager, you will lead a team of Credit Officers and a Credit Team Leader, taking responsibility for portfolio-level credit risk analysis, reporting, and governance. Your focus will be on understanding the characteristics of our loan portfolio that drive performance, including loss characteristics, probability of default, and overall credit performance.
This role combines strategic insight with hands‑on leadership: you will develop and interpret reporting to ensure the executive team and Board have clear visibility of credit risk and portfolio health. You will also work closely with Sales and senior leadership to provide input on product characteristics, refinancing strategies, and lending decisions.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be a key member of the leadership team, fostering a high‑performing culture, developing your team, and maintaining strong broker and stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Risk & Portfolio Oversight
* Analyse and interpret portfolio-level credit risk, including loss characteristics and probability of default.
* Develop and maintain reporting frameworks that provide clear insights into portfolio performance, loss rates, and emerging risks.
* Translate complex credit data into actionable insights for senior leadership and the Board.
* Collaborate with Sales and leadership teams to inform product structure, underwriting strategies, and refinancing initiatives.
* Lead, coach, and develop the Credit Team Leader and Credit Officers, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous learning.
* Provide hands‑on support with training, case reviews, and credit decisioning to strengthen team capability.
* Promote knowledge sharing and adherence to best‑practice credit processes across the team.
Stakeholder Engagement & Compliance
* Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and other key external stakeholders.
* Ensure all credit activities comply with Australian lending principles, NCCP, and ASIC regulations.
* Stay up to date on regulatory and industry trends to support continuous improvement in credit practices.
Reporting & Insights
* Produce high‑quality, data‑driven reporting to guide executive and Board‑level decision‑making.
* Break down complex portfolio insights into clear, actionable information.
* Implement dashboards and reporting frameworks to provide visibility of key credit metrics, trends, and risk drivers.
