The Operations Manager of Clinical Services is responsible for the daily coordination and operational support of twenty clinical service units, including two Intensive Care Units (ICUs). This role provides direct supervision of Clinical Pathology medical technologists and central sterile department ensuring efficient staffing, streamlined workflows, and a high standard of operational performance across all service areas. The Operations Manager serves as a central point of communication between clinical teams, administrative leadership, and support departments, working to resolve issues, maintain compliance, and optimize the patient care environment. In collaboration with the Assistant Director, the Operations Manager also supports procurement planning and budgetary alignment for major equipment purchases. This position plays a critical role in advancing quality improvement initiatives, supporting faculty and clinical leadership, and ensuring safe, effective, and efficient healthcare operations.

Job Responsibilities:

40% Directly manages medical technologists within the Clinical Pathology section, ensuring a high level of accountability, technical proficiency, and operational excellence. Provides ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and mentorship to support team engagement, retention, and professional growth. Actively promotes a culture of collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement aligned with departmental and organizational goals. Oversees the functionality and maintenance of all Clinical Pathology laboratory equipment and systems. Serves as the primary point of contact for equipment repairs, facility-related concerns, and system integration issues. Manages the operations of the Central Sterile department, including the supervision of sterile processing staff. Ensures proper handling, decontamination, sterilization, and turnover of surgical instruments and equipment in accordance with infection control protocols and surgical schedules. Supports team development through targeted training, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities. Oversees equipment performance and maintenance in the Central Sterile area, ensuring instruments are processed and returned efficiently to support uninterrupted surgical services. Continuously evaluates workflows and processes to identify areas for improvement and enhance operational efficiency.

20% Serve as the primary operations leader for twenty clinical service units, including two Intensive Care Units (ICUs), ensuring seamless continuity and high-quality delivery of all essential support services. Act as the central liaison between clinical staff and support departments, proactively anticipating operational needs, resolving initial issues, and maintaining the infrastructure necessary for uninterrupted patient care. Identify operational inefficiencies, compliance gaps, and safety concerns; lead the development and implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions. Collaborate with senior leadership to review and update policies, procedures, and protocols in alignment with current best practices, regulatory requirements, and organizational goals.

20% Support faculty and clinical leadership through data collection, analysis, and reporting to enhance patient flow, optimize resource utilization, and align educational initiatives with clinical operations. Contribute to departmental and unit-level quality assurance programs and participate in performance improvement planning and implementation. Foster a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across all service units. Ensure effective communication and collaboration among multidisciplinary teams to support a high-functioning, patient-centered clinical environment.

15% Manages purchasing activities for assigned service areas with delegated authority up to $50,000. Collaborates with the Assistant Director on purchases exceeding $10,000 to ensure alignment with departmental budgets and strategic priorities. Ensures all procurement activities comply with institutional policies and that purchased supplies and equipment meet clinical and operational requirements. Coordinates with vendors to facilitate timely deliveries, address product availability, and resolve any procurement or invoicing discrepancies.

5% Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in medical field AND Three (3) years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in medical field AND Five (5) years of healthcare experience and two (2) years of supervisory experience.
