Your role at a glance
The Legal Counsel Procurement (m/f/d), is an experienced legal professional providing comprehensive legal support across commercial and procurement contracting matters. This role supports NTT’s technology and operational objectives through drafting, negotiating, and managing a broad range of complex commercial and procurement agreements. The position operates with a high degree of independence while managing regional and global transactions, with particular focus on applicable EMEA legal and regulatory requirements. This role is responsible for working mostly independently in the areas of core competency and handling complex issues with oversight by the Sr. Legal Counsel & Mgr Global Legal Procurement & Commercial Contracts and Vice President, Global Legal Commerial & Procurement Contracts/Legal Operations.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Draft, negotiate, and manage procurement contracts, including IT service agreements, goods and services agreements, software licenses, hardware contracts, vendor contracts, NDAs, MSAs (client and vendor), sales orders, change orders, and complex commercial lease documents.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory frameworks, company policies, and data protection laws in contracts and related transactions, including EMEA-specific regulatory considerations where applicable.
Provide strategic legal advice to internal stakeholders, identifying and mitigating contractual, regulatory, compliance, financial, and operational risks while aligning with NTT’s business objectives.
Collaborate cross-functionally with technology, procurement, compliance, finance, and other business units to address legal and operational requirements effectively.
Develop, implement, and maintain standardized templates, playbooks, and contract management tools to enhance efficiency, consistency, and risk control.
Manage risk and ensure business and compliance needs are accurately reflected in agreements.
Maintain organized tracking of matters, providing regular task updates, status reports, and visibility to stakeholders and management.
Interact professionally with vendors, clients, internal departments, and NTT corporate affiliates globally.
Work independently with proactiveness and initiative on high-value and complex, multi-layered transactions across regional and global environments.
Actively manage multiple matters simultaneously, prioritizing deadlines and responding effectively to urgent business needs.
Knowledge and Attributes
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Law.
Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school (where applicable).
Current member in good standing of a State Bar (where applicable) with no prior disciplinary action
Multiple years of qualified and relevant legal experience at a law firm or as in‑house counsel.
Seasoned experience managing regional and global matters independently, handling high‑value and complex transactions.
Strong domain expertise in procurement contracting and related legal matters.
Experience within the technology or data center industry is advantageous.
Excellent English and German language skills, both spoken and written.
Resolves and assesses a wide range of issues in creative ways and suggests variations in approach with consultation at times from senior legal manager.
Contributes to development of company objectives and principles to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.
Requires conceptual thinking to understand complex issues and their implications.
Strong experience in contract drafting, commercial terms, and negotiations.
Strong experience in commercial contracting and vendor contracts.
