Shape the Technical Future of Australia\'s Leading Parts Marketplace
This isn\'t an ivory tower architecture role. We\'re looking for a hands-on technical leader who can define the architectural direction of a platform serving thousands of automotive businesses across Australia—and then roll up their sleeves and help build it.
PartsCheck connects repairers with parts suppliers nationwide, simplifying quotations, purchasing, and receipting in one centralised platform. We\'re the market leader, and we\'re evolving our technology to match our ambitions.
The Challenge
Our current platform runs on PHP and AWS. We\'re embarking on a deliberate, strategic migration to .NET Core and React—not a rip-and-replace, but a thoughtful evolution that delivers value continuously while modernising our foundation.
We need an architect who can hold both realities: maintaining and enhancing a production system that businesses depend on daily, while designing and building the architecture that will carry us through the next decade.
What You\'ll Be Doing
Defining and evolving end-to-end platform architecture across our PHP and emerging .NET systems
Writing production code in critical paths—prototypes, shared components, and the hardest technical problems
Making high-impact architectural decisions and documenting the trade-offs clearly
Leading the design of complex integrations, data models, and platform capabilities
Coaching senior engineers in architectural thinking and system design
Partnering with the Head of Technology and executive team on technical strategy
Ensuring architecture enables delivery rather than blocking it
What We\'re Looking For
8-10+ years of professional software development experience
Proven experience designing and evolving production systems at scale
Expert level experience with C# / .NET is essential —you\'ll be writing code, not just diagrams
Expert/architect level AWS experience; GCP familiarity is a plus
Experience with React and TypeScript on the frontend
PHP and MySQL experience would be valuable given our current stack
Proven ability to design modular, evolvable systems without over-engineering
Strong security mindset with practical experience
Pragmatic, delivery-oriented approach—architecture that ships, not architecture for its own sake
Why This Role?
You\'ll report directly to the Head of Technology and work alongside an executive team with decades of combined SaaS experience. This is a genuine opportunity to shape technical direction at a company where technology is core to the business—not a cost centre to be minimised.
Real architectural influence, not governance theatre
Hands-on technical work on meaningful problems
Brisbane-based team with strong engineering culture
Stable, profitable business in an essential industry
Opportunity to lead a significant platform evolution
Australian work rights are required for this position
If you\'re an architect who still loves to code and wants to build something that matters, let\'s talk.
