Dugald River mine is one of the world's top 10 Zinc mine operations, which has been producing zinc concentrate for customers around the world since 2017.
The mine is committed to a low‑carbon future. In April 2023 the Dugald River Solar Farm began operations, supplying a third of the mine's power, and reducing emissions by 33% and this is just the start of its renewable energy transition.
Dugald River employs around 750 employees and contractors on a mix of fly‑in, fly‑out and local residential basis. The village provides all the amenities including a gym, with a women's only area, a tennis court, swimming pool, walking track and entertainment area.
Superintendent - Risk and Audit
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Superintendent - Risk and Audit to join our SHEC team at our Dugald River operations.
Reporting to the Manager - SHEC, this pivotal role supports the site leadership team in implementing and maintaining effective risk management and compliance systems across all operational areas.
The role is available on a drive in, drive out basis (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mount Isa, or a fly in fly out basis (FIFO) from Townsville or Brisbane. The roster is eight days on and six days off (8/6), four days on and three days off (4/3) to enable the position to rotate between rosters. An attractive additional incentive is available to employees who live or move into the Cloncurry township. MMG is supportive of our local communities and region. Persons of Kalkadoon heritage and other local Indigenous groups are encouraged to apply.
Accountabilities and/or Duties
* Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of DRM's Risk Management process in alignment with MMG Standards, ICMM Critical Control Management guidance, and statutory requirements.
* Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of material risks and critical controls, and support operational teams in analysing critical control performance and verification.
* Actively support Risk Owners and Control Owners to review and manage site material risks.
* Lead and coordinate the management of site Risk Management systems.
* Manage timely and accurate risk reporting, dashboards, and analytics by ensuring high‑quality data uploads, validation, and system integrity while identifying opportunities to streamline reporting processes.
* Deliver coaching, training, and guidance to leaders on risk management principles and critical control management processes.
* Build and maintain a positive risk culture that promotes ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement.
* Coordinate and facilitate internal and external audit activities, including preparation, logistics, stakeholder engagement, dissemination of findings, and action planning.
Experience
* Demonstrated experience in achieving business outcomes in complex environments.
* Experience with site database management and systems (such as SAP and document management systems).
* Greater than five years' experience in heavy industry or mining operations, in particular underground hard rock mining and/or surface flotation processing activities.
* Minimum five years' experience in leadership roles.
