The group you’ll be a part of
In the Global Products Group, we are dedicated to excellence in the design and engineering of Lam’s etch and deposition products. We drive innovation to ensure our cutting-edge solutions help solve the biggest challenges in the semiconductor industry.
The impact you’ll make
As a Process Engineer at Lam, you will operate on cutting-edge technology, harnessing atomic precision, material science, and surface engineering to push technical boundaries. Your role involves developing new and advanced process formulations, defining equipment hardware to meet processing requirements, evaluating test data, and coordinating design requirements to ensure compatibility of processing methods. Your expertise plays a crucial role in our customers' success, impacting the next generation of semiconductor breakthroughs.
In this role, you will directly contribute to panel level processes, including electrochemical metal deposition and post plating processes such as metal etching.
You will focus on developing processes for and with customers worldwide, covering both small-scale and panel-level processes.
What You’ll Do
1. Conduct process engineering research, development, and evaluation to support Lam’s semiconductor equipment and systems.
2. Review and improve processing techniques used in manufacturing and fabrication.
3. Develop and maintain new processes and process improvements to reduce costs and increase yields.
4. Analyze test data to inform process development and establish process specifications.
5. Collaborate internally to plan, collect data, analyze results, and report on customer demos.
6. Contribute to next-generation product development and release activities supporting the semiconductor roadmap.
Minimum Qualifications
Who we’re looking for
1. Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or related field with 3+ years of experience; or a PhD with no professional experience; or equivalent experience in electrochemical metal surface deposition/modification.
2. Good English communication skills, both oral and written.
3. Structured and organized work style.
4. Ability to work independently with high flexibility in a cross-functional environment.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in a laboratory and on semiconductor equipment, with knowledge of surface preparation and analytical techniques.
* Background in electrochemistry, especially electrochemical metal deposition.
* Knowledge of safe chemical handling.
* Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE).
* Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or similar scientific computing languages.
* Experience with statistical analysis tools like JMP or Minitab.
* Knowledge of material analysis techniques such as XRF, X-Ray Tomography, Laser Microscope, CVS, or titration techniques.
* Experience in material synthesis and characterization.
* Experience working in collaborative, matrixed teams with diverse stakeholders.
* Knowledge of Korean and/or Japanese is a plus.
