About the role
We are looking for a Head of Sustainability to build and deliver an actionable sustainability strategy for adapa. You will lead our sustainability program, drive measurable progress against targets, and help commercialize our Design for Recycling (D4R) portfolio. Success will be judged on outcomes — emissions reductions, progress on our sustainability goals, stronger product circularity, and visible business impact.
You will work closely with group leadership, sales, procurement and site operations. This is a hands-on role for an independent self-starter who can navigate a fast-moving complex environment. Key responsibilities
Develop and own adapa’s sustainability strategy and roadmap; define clear, measurable targets and KPIs
Drive development and commercialization of the D4R product portfolio in collaboration with R&D, sales and product teams
Lead Scope 1 and 2 emissions reduction planning and implementation across sites; track, report and verify progress
Manage sustainability reporting ensure data quality and support external assurance
Build and run employee engagement programs covering training and internal communications to embed sustainability across the business
Conduct stakeholder engagement and run workshops with customers and suppliers
Represent adapa at industry associations, trade shows and regulatory forums
Identify regulatory risks and opportunities (EU packaging and recycling laws, EPR, recycled content requirements) and translate them into business actions
Monitor industry trends to inform product and commercial decisions.
Required skills & experience
7+ years’ professional experience in corporate sustainability, sustainability strategy or related role; experience working across functions to deliver measurable outcomes is a must
Proven track record delivering Scope 1/2 reduction plans and operational sustainability programs.
Experience with sustainability reporting and disclosure
Packaging industry experience and familiarity with Design for Recycling, materials science or recycling systems is strongly preferred.
Analytical and data-driven: comfortable with lifecycle assessment (LCA) inputs, carbon accounting
Commercially-minded — able to translate sustainability into customer value and support go-to-market activities
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Economics, Statistics, Business Analytics or related field
