The duration of an internship is normally not less than three months and not more than one year.

Organizational Setting

The Department of Nuclear Safety and Security (NS) formulates and implements the IAEA\'s nuclear safety and security programme, which encompasses the IAEA\'s activities to protect people and the environment from radiation exposure, and responds to the needs of its Member States related to nuclear safety and nuclear security.

The Office of Safety and Security Coordination (NSOC) is located in the Office of the Deputy Director General, Head of the Department. Its mission is to ensure the technical consistency and effective coordination of the IAEA\'s activities in the nuclear, radiation, transport and waste safety and nuclear security programmes. As part of the development of the intern\'s own skills and competences, the scope will include tasks that involve a wide range of stakeholders, internal and external to the IAEA. The intern will have the possibility to attend the conference, learning about the topics and interacting with participants, speakers and delegates.

The internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in international event coordination and project management within a specialized UN agency. The intern will contribute to the planning and execution of RegCon2026, a high-profile global conference that brings together regulators, experts, and stakeholders in nuclear and radiation safety and security.
