About the role
As a technical visionary, you will own the architecture and strategy for all Mobile Backend services within the Patient Insights Software chapter. Your focus is on solving highly ambiguous problems, delivering long‑term business outcomes, and driving architectural excellence across the organization.
Responsibilities
Define and drive the technical direction for Mobile Backend engineering.
Set long‑term stack development roadmaps and future‑proof architectures for high‑performance mobile services.
Implement systematic processes to ensure data integrity, security, and scalability for patient data.
Lead the organization to a culture of technical excellence and architectural integrity.
Handle complex, ambiguous problems that create large‑scale platform impact.
Serve as a global technical reference for core backend technologies (Java 17+, Spring, Hibernate, PostgreSQL, AWS/Cloud) and mobile backend patterns.
Mentor and coach Backend Engineers, fostering mastery and a systematic approach.
Effectively manage conflict, collaborate across functions, and translate technical risks into business value.
Communicate complex technical concepts clearly in English.
Required skills & experience
10+ years of high‑impact backend experience.
Advanced mastery in Java, Spring, Hibernate, PostgreSQL, AWS/Cloud.
Experience designing secure, low‑latency, scalable APIs for mobile services.
Strong problem‑solving abilities with a track record of delivering business‑impacting solutions.
Leadership experience driving architectural excellence across large engineering teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Hold EU citizenship or a valid Austrian work permit.
Bonus skills
Familiarity with medical, security, and privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA).
Experience advising on diabetes or comparable health industry products.
