The University for Continuing Education Krems specializes in part-time academic continuing education. As a public university for continuing education, it works with its expertise in teaching and research to overcome societal challenges and tailors its study programs to address them. With nearly 7,500 students coming from 103 countries, the University for Continuing Education Krems combines its many years of experience in university-based continuing education with innovation to provide outstanding quality in research and teaching at an international level. Situated 60 km from Vienna in the alluring UNESCO world heritage region Wachau, Campus Krems is a highly attractive location.

The following position is available to strengthen our team of the Legal Studies and International Relations Department at the Faculty of Faculty of Business and Globalisation:

Scientific Project Staff - Postdoc (m/f/d)

Security of supply has become increasingly important due to the coronavirus crisis, the Russia-Ukraine war, climate change and the associated energy crisis. Although the term is now almost exclusively used in connection with energy, the term “security of supply” has many facets: from the supply of food to the population, heating fuels such as wood, aspects of land use to the supply of water and the associated infrastructure and basic necessities of life. The Department of Law and International Relations would like to establish a scientific focus on the area of “security of supply” and set up a center that is dedicated to this research focus holistically and independently. The focus will be on commercial and environmental law in particular but will also include other disciplines.

* Participation in research activities in the field of “security of supply”
* Publication activities including the publication of research results in scientific journals, as well as participation in relevant national and international conferences
* Lecturing activities - teaching courses in the field of “security of supply” and participation in the development of innovative further education programs in the field of “security of supply”
* Supporting the establishment of the Center for “Security of Supply” and, if necessary, taking on administrative tasks in research management
* Possibly inter- and/or transdisciplinary cooperation in research (and possibly teaching) in the field of “security of supply”

Your profile

We require evidence of the following qualifications for the application:

* University degree (doctorate/PhD), preferably in “Business Law” or “Law”, economics, montanistic sciences or with previous studies (Bachelor or Master) in the field of agricultural sciences or comparable disciplines
* Research experience in the field of “security of supply” (in particular in one of the following areas: Agriculture, water supply, energy supply, land use or critical infrastructure)
* Very good knowledge of German (at least C1) and good knowledge of English (at least B2), both written and spoken
* Ability for interdisciplinary cooperation and networking

In addition, the following criteria are desirable:

* Own research activities in the above-mentioned fields
* First relevant publications, e.g. in national or international journals in the above-mentioned fields
* Academic experience (university or non-university); in particular in the fields of commercial law, security of supply, energy security, economics, agricultural sciences, forestry, meteorology or mining sciences
* Experience in university teaching and in the supervision of students
* Scientific or professional involvement in the field of “security of supply”, for example with conference participation, memberships, co-authorships, etc.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills…
* Full time (40 hours/week), initially limited to 31 December 2027
* Minimum salary of EUR 4,932.90 gross per month (14x) on a full-time basis, willingness to overpay with appropriate qualifications and professional experience
