 
        
        OverviewOur client is a biotechnology company located in Sydney, Australia. The company currently has an excellent opportunity for a talented and experienced individual to join their executive team as Chief Scientific Officer (CSO).This role will ideally be based in Sydney, Australia and will require some national and international travel. This key management role reports directly to the CEO and has responsibilities for the management of the R&D activities, including the management of clinical trials, and product development activities.Key ResponsibilitiesProject manage the ongoing R&D.Mandatory knowledge of diabetes, metabolic and endocrinology.Determine the ongoing R&D strategy for the company.Manage the company’s clinical trials in the US and Australia.Stakeholder liaison and management.Participate in the development and achievement of the company’s vision and goals.Lead a team of 1-5.Travel will be required – both national and international.QualificationsPhD qualification in Molecular Biology, Pharmacology or other relevant discipline.At least 10 years relevant experience, with a minimum of 5 years senior management experience.Experience in the development and commercialisation of combination drugs.Experience in a start-up pharmaceutical environment or medium pharmaceutical company preferred.Familiarity with regulatory requirements for new drugs – in particular with FDA and TGA submissions.Commercialisation experience with respect to taking new products from development through the production and marketing paths.Demonstrated international networks with relevant international CROs and research institutes.Superior analytical skillsExcellent leadership, organisation and coordination skills.Excellent communication and presenting skills.Fluency in spoken and written English.Clinical trial experience.Formulation and CMC experience.Speaking engagement experience at overseas conferencesAbility to liaise with Key Opinion Leaders both nationally and internationally.Experience in teaching or mentoring.Experience in managing an IP portfolio and writing patents.Applicants from outside of Australia that meet the criteria above are encouraged to apply.
