Data Governance & Data Quality Engineer (Azure Databricks, TWH Migration)

For our client, we are looking for a Medior Data Governance & Data Quality Engineer to support the modernization of a Treasury Data Warehouse (TWH) environment, including migration from an MS-SQL/SSAS (ROLAP cubes) setup to Azure Databricks/DBX. The engagement focuses on data governance, data lineage, data validation, reconciliation, and data quality KPIs within a hybrid delivery setup across Vienna and Bratislava.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to defining PoC/MVP scope, including functional and non-functional requirements, acceptance criteria, and validation approach for future solution concepts and migration strategy.
* Support target architecture work aligned to Bronze/Silver/Gold layers on Databricks/DBX.
* Define and implement data governance practices, including data access policies, cataloging, and data lineage setup.
* Establish and execute data validation, reconciliation checks, and data quality KPIs; validate SQL Server outputs vs Databricks outputs.
* Support security and compliance requirements, including encryption and alignment with relevant standards and policies.
* Collaborate with architecture, data engineering, and business/domain stakeholders across Vienna and Bratislava; contribute to stakeholder communication and coordination as needed.
* Support business continuity for reporting by contributing to redesign/adaptation activities for reports, dashboards, cubes, and semantic models (as applicable to governance and quality scope).
Requirements
* Seniority: Medior.
* Hands‑on experience with Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Lineage, and Data Validation.
* Strong SQL (programming language) skills; experience working with SQL Server environments.
* Experience with Azure Databricks / Databricks (DBX) and related data platform concepts.
* Familiarity with Spark and Python (mentioned as relevant within the platform setup).
* Exposure to migration activities such as converting T‑SQL logic into Spark/Databricks jobs and supporting pipeline optimization (within role scope).
* Knowledge of governance and compliance frameworks and requirements such as DAMA and GDPR.
* Experience with tooling referenced for the engagement: DameWare and Test Management Tools.
* Familiarity with related ecosystem tools and services used in the target setup: SSIS, ADF, Databricks Workflows, Unity Catalog, Tableau, XLCubed, and Power BI.
* Treasury business know‑how is preferred.
* Work Mode: Hybrid, with 2 days/week on‑site.
* Contract length: 6 months; possible extension: yes.
* Work load: 61h/month.
