The Faculty of Medicine at Johannes Kepler University Linz is sending a strong signal for further development in research. As part of a targeted stimulus program, the Faculty of Medicine has created six Young Research Groups with the aim of giving outstanding young scientists the opportunity to develop independent research profiles in forward-looking medical fields. The newly established Young Research Group at the Clinical Research Institute for Inflammatory Medicine (KFI) will contribute innovative and scientifically excellent work to the research project "Immune Networks in Inflammatory Skin Diseases." The project will collaborate with the Clinical Department of Immunodermatology to strengthen translational applications. We are looking to fill a position as a university assistant with a diploma/master's degree (doctoral candidate), offering promising young scientists doctoral training in a research-intensive biomedical environment. Become part of a scientifically leading and internationally networked research group that focuses on inflammatory mechanisms of the skin. The research team provides clearly structured scientific supervision, practical laboratory training, and an individually tailored training and qualification program. The aim is to promote the targeted development of core scientific skills, support independent research activities, and prepare candidates for a scientific career in translational biomedical research.
Job Duties:
* Develop an independent research profile
* Conduct research on inflammatory skin diseases with a focus on immunological network structures and underlying pathophysiological mechanisms
* Supervise research projects within the Young Research Group, including planning, methodological implementation, documentation, analysis, and interpretation of experimental approaches. Perform a variety of experimental laboratory tasks (e.g., cell culture, flow cytometry, transfection, protein analyses, qPCR, ELISA, RNA/DNA extraction, immunofluorescence staining, and others)
* Analyze, interpret, and document experimental data
* Support the development and establishment of the Young Research Group
* Compile, analyze, interpret, and publish collected data in scientific journals and at conferences
* Contribute to scientific publications and reports
* Participate in infrastructural and organizational tasks
* Contribute to teaching activities, including the supervision of bachelor’s and master’s theses
Your Qualifications:
* The successful candidate must hold a completed Diploma/Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biomedicine, Human Medicine, or a related field
* Practical laboratory experience and solid theoretical knowledge of relevant bioscientific methods (e.g., cell culture, flow cytometry, transfection, protein analyses, qPCR, ELISA, RNA/DNA extraction, immunofluorescence staining, microscopy, etc.)
* Willingness to learn, optimize, and establish new experimental methods
* Ability to critically evaluate data
* Teaching skills and experience at the bachelor’s and master’s level are desirable
* Excellent German and English skills (German level B2; English level C1)
* Structured and independent working style
