Overview

Red Cross aims to ensure communities are strong and resilient and have the capacity to anticipate, respond to, and recover from disasters. We take a psychosocial support approach to emergency management providing resources, services, expertise and humanitarian advocacy and influence, to support and strengthen the capacity individuals and communities in need.

The opportunity

Make a difference for communities impacted by disasters across Australia. We're looking for a solutions focussed Senior Officer, Recovery to help design and deliver recovery programs that strengthen community resilience after disasters.

You'll bring your skills in report and grant writing, analytical and creative problem-solving skills to guide disaster recovery programming. You're a natural communicator and team player — someone who values collaboration, continuous learning, and contributing to a positive, supportive culture as part of a small dynamic team.

If you're adaptable and able to navigate complexity — we'd love to hear from you. Experience in disaster recovery, resilience, community development or emergency management will set you up for success.

In this role, you'll work with front facing teams to coach, guide and support them on the ground after disasters.

About you:
This is an opportunity for a proactive and people-focused individual to join our Recovery and Resilience team to help us build safer, more connected communities.

You will bring the following skills and experience;

* Prior experience in disaster recovery, community development, community resilience or emergency services
* Project management experience including project design and implementation
* Ability to coach, lead and develop individuals and teams
* Sound analytical skills and demonstrated ability to assess, evaluate and solve problems
* Strong, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present workshops
* Strong stakeholder and project management, analytical, problem solving and creative thinking skills
* Current, employee Working with Children Check
