POSITION VACANT – SAFETY MANAGER / COMPLIANCE OFFICER
Location: Latrobe preferred, Riverside optional
Tasmanian Helicopters operates a diverse fleet of rotary aircraft across a wide range of services, including precision application, heavy lifting, fire support, powerline stringing, inspections, aerial surveying, photography, tourism, charter, and advanced pilot training.

We are seeking a Safety Manager / Compliance Officer to join our team.
This role is central to overseeing, maintaining, and continually improving the company’s integrated management systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant aviation, workplace health and safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
Report directly to the Managing Director, Chief Pilot / Head of Operations, and Office Manager.
Oversee and maintain the company’s Quality Management System (QMS), Safety Management System (SMS), Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), Environmental Management System (EMS), BARS, SOPs, COM, MOM, and SWMS compliance.
Lead and manage compliance monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Conduct internal safety and site audits, identify non-conformances, and implement corrective actions.
Oversee the development, review, and implementation of policies, manuals, and safe work procedures.
Ensure company operations comply with all CASA and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate and support tender preparation by providing compliance and safety documentation.
Provide training, coaching, and guidance to staff to strengthen the safety and compliance culture.
Demonstrated experience in safety, compliance, or quality management (preferably within aviation or a high-risk industry).
Strong working knowledge of QMS, SMS, OHS, EMS, and compliance frameworks.
Experience conducting audits and implementing corrective/preventive actions.
High-level organisational and communication skills.
Proven ability to develop, implement and maintain safety and compliance documentation.
Computer literacy with Microsoft Office and database management.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
Aviation industry experience, particularly in compliance and safety management.
Auditor qualifications (Lead Auditor or similar).
Understanding of BARS standards and CASA regulatory frameworks.
Previous involvement in tender preparation and contract compliance.
Relevant tertiary or vocational qualifications in safety, compliance, or quality management.
Special Conditions
Flexibility with working hours may be required.
Some travel may be necessary to support operational sites.
